Ozanam Hunger Center Thursday Night Hot Meal (3 - 6 PM)
Volunteers are needed to work alongside members of our Good Samaritan Ministry to serve a hearty meal to the poor at the Ozanam Hunger Center at Holy Name Church in Slavic Village. Duties include preparing the buffet line, serving the food, and cleaning up afterward. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.
Friday, September 12
St. Columbkille Meal Ministry - St. Columbkille School Kitchen (2:30 - 4 PM & 4:30 to 5:15 PM)
Kitchen workers are needed from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. in the St Columbkille School kitchen to help prepare food and pack meals. Drivers are needed to deliver the meals to our homebound parishioners between 4:30 and 5:00 p.m. Report to the St. Columbkille School kitchen at 4:15 p.m. to pick up meals and a delivery route. Deliveries should take no longer than a half hour to 45 minutes to complete. Drivers may bring along a buddy to help carry the meals from the car to the person receiving the meals. Children are welcome to accompany an adult on deliveries.

Food Pantry and Clothing Bank - Ozanam Hunger Center at Holy Name Church (8:30 AM - 12:30 PM)
Help is needed as St. Columbkille volunteers serve the poor at the Ozanam Hunger Center at Holy Name Church in Slavic Village. Duties include packing bags of fresh produce and staple foods, carrying the bags of food to the cars of the 120-130 families who come to the Center for food, and sorting and hanging clothing donations. All volunteers must be able to lift and carry boxes and bags of groceries and must be at least 13 years old. Under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
Fleece Blankets for Adults & Children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities - School Gym (9:30 - 12 PM)
Members of our Warm-Up America Ministry will lead us as we make no-sew fleece blankets for the children and adults at Hattie Larlham, a not-for-profit organization that provides care and support to children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. No sew fleece blankets are easy to make. If you can tie a simple knot, you can help make a blanket and provide comfort and a big smile to those cared for at Hattie Larlham. All supplies will be provided. School-aged children are welcome to volunteer but those under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
36th Annual Appalachian Collection - St. Basil the Great Parking Lot (8 AM - 6 PM)
This year, the Appalachian Collection will support those in need residing in the Appalachian Mountains in the Eastern Kentucky area. The Knights of Columbus of Our Lady of Charity Council 14406 would appreciate donations of household goods, including small appliances, cooking utensils, dishes, sheets, blankets, towels, all clothing and toys. Monetary donations will also be accepted and are greatly appreciated. We also need help removing donations from cars and placing them in the 53’ long trailer. Some statistics from last year: Last year’s collection brought 35 volunteers together to manually load 2 trailers.
