Men of Mercy

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” — Matthew 22:37–39

Men of Mercy is a brotherhood of Catholic men dedicated to Jesus Christ and our faith primarily from our local community, who pool their time, talent, and resources to support individuals and families in crisis and need. Rooted in the Corporal Works of Mercy, we strive to support those in critical need through thoughtful, coordinated efforts.

No special skills or major finances required—just willing hearts.
If you are looking to make meaningful impact with minimal time commitment, we might just be for you! No matter your age or your stage in your faith journey: you’ll be welcomed, you’ll be part of a team, you’ll make a new friend or two, and you’ll know that you are needed. Chances are, you already know a few members, you just didn’t know they were part of the group!

What’s involved? We gather quarterly to pray, share updates, plan outreach, and break bread together. Between meetings, we stay connected as needed via email and phone, responding to causes that reflect our shared mission of mercy and compassion.

Our mission is simple: respond with
compassion, dignity, and mercy.  Through 2025, we have assisted 259 individuals and families in our area—quietly and powerfully living out the Corporal Works of Mercy as we are called by the causes we receive.

Why Do We Help?

“For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger, and you invited me in, I needed clothes, and you clothed me, I was sick, and you looked after me, I was in prison, and you came to visit me.” — Matthew 25:35–36. “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” — Matthew 25:40

Who Do We Help?

We focus our outreach on the Greater Parma area, where the need is great and our ability to respond is most effective. While most of our members live in and around Parma, some do not. By concentrating our efforts locally, we ensure that causes are manageable, vetted, and well-supported. Referrals come from a variety of trusted sources: Calls to the rectory requesting help; Recommendations from our members; Requests from local organizations; Outreach from city offices seeking assistance for residents in crisis. Financial contributions by members or donors are 100% provided to recipient causes, 100% private to each member or donor, are tax deductible

Samples of Recent Causes:

Provided rent payment for a single mother who was severely debilitated due to illness, provided financial assistance to a family for the burial of their loved one; Coordinated and contributed to the purchase of a wheelchair-accessible van for a family caring for their quadriplegic son.
